In less than 48 hours I was on a plane heading for New York City after I had emergency surgery to replace my left implant because the suture opened exposing it. I was feeling well and got the ‘ok’ from the docs.
I’m not going to say much about the trip except I’ll list what we did for the 3 days/nights with comments, photos, and a video. The cherry on top or piece de resistance of it all will be the epic video I filmed, it is about 6 minutes long so make sure you watch all of it! The video is of myself in the back back seat, our friends Nuala & Claudio in the middle, and my husband in the front seat with the ‘driver’ (shhh, shhh)….hahahaha. It was filmed when we left Gotham Bar and Grill heading back to our hotel on Saturday (our last night). It is a little rocky and crooked because it was dark, bouncy, so I couldn’t tell if I was filming properly. I swear I didn’t have any tequila. My husband as you will see is in rare but well needed laidback form.
First night: OTTO Enoteca Pizzeria
This restaurant has become a tradition for my friends when they travel to NYC. This is their first stop to eat and to start their long weekend. Amazing. Service in this city is not comparable to here or anywhere else I’ve been.
Second day: The Best of Brooklyn Half-Day Food & Culture Tour
The tour was beyond amazing, and worth EVERY penny. One spot that stuck out wasn’t actually a stop on the tour, it’s a restaurant called Five Leaves. According to our delightful tour guide, this restaurant was a dream of Heath Ledger, he had always wanted to open a cool place where he and his friends could hang out. It was opened and still is managed by two of his best friends (a skateboarder and a tattoo artist) after he died. They apparently got a portion of his estate money, and wanted to honour their friend and voila – Five Leaves was opened. I made a point of excusing myself from the tour group to use the facilities and got a couple of pics – I could of sat there all day…..next time.
Second night: The Book of Morman on broadway. Best musical I’ve EVER seen. period. And a walk back to the hotel through Time Square and Grand Central Station.
Third day: Flatiron building, lunch at Eataly (where New Yorker’s do there groceries…lucky them), walking through Central Park; Upper West Side; Upper East Side, and stocking Madonna’s apartment (yes, I’m a stalker, so what? and to be perfectly honest – I’d love to discuss her set list with her for the Rebel Heart tour, she NEEDS to add in more of her old school stuff – I can’t resist her concerts and this September in MTL it’ll be my 6th time seeing her live). And last but not least – Gotham Bar and Grill, and epic cab ride.
